Welcome to the Licking County Library.

You are invited!

You are invited to the 1853 Newark Map Unveiling! In 2006, we received an original copy of the map from local historian William I. Davis. Mr. Davis spent many years working on a history of Newark from 1802 to 1900 and amassed an incredible collection of documents, pictures, and artifacts. Along with the map, we received a wealth of research and materials from his estate including the unfinished manuscript of his book. It is with unbridled excitement that we are happy to announce that we recently completed a full restoration of Mr. Davis’ map. It is one of only two known to exist and has never been published or reproduced to our knowledge. In addition to the map, several items from Mr. Davis’ collection will be on display for the very first time during the event. Please join us in being among the first to view this incredible local treasure!
