October's Featured Research Tool
Ancestry, Fold3, Heritage Quest, and Ohio Obituary Index
October is Family History Month
National Family History Month has grown on a national stage since its 2001 origin in Congress. Funeral service professionals, community groups, historians, storytellers, and genealogical and historical societies promote and celebrate National Family History Month as way to commemorate each family’s rich history.
Family History Month is a perfect time to start or continue the research into your ancestors. What are these resources?
Ancestry Library Edition hosts the world’s most popular genealogy collection—with census reports, city directories, public records, military records, immigration and naturalization records, and more. (This resource can only be accessed while in the library.
Fold3 is a premier collection of historical U.S. military records that brings to life the details of America’s military veterans with stories, photos, and personal documents.
Heritage Quest is helpful for genealogy and historical research offering census records, family and local histories, the PERSI archive, Revolutionary War records, Freedman’s Bank applications, and the U.S. Serial Set.
Ohio Obituary Index provides an index to 3,000,000 obituaries, death & marriage notices, and more from the 1810s to the present day. Actual obituaries may be ordered from over 60 partner libraries.
