Be Internet Awesome: A Family-Friendly Digital Safety Adventure

February 2 - March 13
This February and March, Licking County Library is proud to present a five-week passive program designed to help families explore digital safety together—powered by the nationally recognized Be Internet Awesome initiative from Highlights and Google. This engaging program empowers children to become safe, confident explorers of the online world by teaching five essential internet safety skills: Smart, Alert, Strong, Kind, and Brave.
Families can pick up a free activity packet at any LCL location, which includes:
- A Parent Startup Guide to help adults support their children’s learning
- A special edition Highlights Magazine filled with puzzles, stories, and activities
- A bracelet to collect colorful charms (called “gibbets”) as kids complete each weekly challenge
Each week, children will receive a new take-home activity focused on one of the five pillars of internet safety. These passive activities are designed to be fun, educational, and easy to complete at home, encouraging meaningful conversations between kids and caregivers.
To wrap up the program, join us at the Downtown Newark Location in March for a celebratory Bingo Bonanza—a fun-filled event where families can review what they’ve learned, win prizes, and celebrate their journey toward becoming truly Internet Awesome.
